Aims, contents and method of the course
The position of people working in legal professions within Chinese society can not be understood without a basic understanding of the historical development of these professions and their political limitations. The seminar intends to trace the image of judges, lawyers and other professions involved in legal implementation as well as these people's professional identities.

presentation (powerpoint) and paper (15 to 20 pages)
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The seminar intends to introduce the law and society, the law and politics as well as the legal history approach to the issues of the judicial system, lawyers and police to students. It further aims at connecting these issues to the question of a rule of law and its cultural implications.
Examination topics
The investigation in the issues named above is based on secundary literature complemented by literary texts, film, legal texts and others.
The results of this variety of approaches are presented, compared and evaluated with regard to a theoretical framework.
