Aims, contents and method of the course

The goal is to improve the listening and spreaking abilitty and to build up debate skills in Mandarin Chinese.

The main course content will focus on topics from practical life and social, cultural aspects of Chinese society.

Assessment and permitted materials

The evaluation includes regular and active participation, contribution in discussions and oral presentation.
Grading: active participation 10%, oral report in class 20%, Listening test 30%, Chengyu test 10% and final test 30%
The grade is mainly based on active course participation, listening and speaking tests.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Grading scheme: 100- 90% : Very Good/1; 89 - 80% :Good/2 ; 79-70% : Fair/3 ; 69 - 60%: Satisfactory/4 ; under 60%: Failed/5.
Active participation in lessons and punctuality are required. In case of more than two unexcused absences, the final grade will be negative.

Examination topics

Vocabulary, sentence structures and idioms learned during the course. Listening comprehension exam will be based on course listening materials.

Texte, Video-Audio Clips und andere Lehrmaterialien werden im Unterricht/auf der Lernplattform Moodle zur Verfügung gestellt werden.

Aims, contents and method of the course

The main objective of the course is to improve listening and speaking skills in modern Chinese at an advanced level.
Various topics such as culture, literature, news, and contemporary society will be covered in the course. The students will be asked to prepare the material in advance and will be able to present the chosen material in class.

1. Students will have the opportunity to improve the presentation skill in the class.
2. Students will improve their listening and speaking skills using authentic material covered in class.
3. Students will develop their cross-cultural awareness during the course.

Assessment and permitted materials

The grade consists of:
1. Discussion in the class 20%
2. Listening tests 20%
3. Midterm Presentation 30%
4. Final Presentation 30%

Details and requirements for presenting will be provided in class.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

100-89.5% =Very good/1
89.4-79.5%=Good/2
79.4-69.5%=satisfactory/3
69.4-59.5%=sufficient/4
<59.4%=insufficient/5
To receive a positive grade, you may not miss more than three classes.
