Aims, contents and method of the course

the participants get a grasp of fundamental changes in Republican China and as a consequence of the regime change in the 1950s through the analysis of disputes on so-called Chinese medicine

Assessment and permitted materials

oral presentation (8 possible dates), term paper (more details online). active participation in the discussions. submission of six homeworks in time through fronter.
6 ECTS points (150h insum), only 12-16 hours by attended the 8 courses in SIN1 (90 min each).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

the participants gain access to Chinese research on modern medical history of China, they contribute their own informed views to the discussion, and they write a formally convincing and well grounded term paper

Examination topics

Each participant chooses as her or his topic either a historical personality or a fundamental change in the history of Chinese medicine. Each week in turn: they submit their homework, and the following week contribute their findings and ideas to the discussion in the course. 8 courses in SIN1: start, 3 blocks of main topics, final discussion.
