Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims to introduce to the students the impact of culture, especially the minority culture on the health development of local population in China. It will introduce existing literature on how local culture could be an important factor in influencing people’s health belief and health behavior. It will also use specific cases, especially the case of Bai minority in Southern China, to well illustrate this relationship. This course has an empowerment perspective with an emphasis on the exploration of the role of empowerment in changing people’s existing health belief and behavior and to achieve the aim of health promotion. It also aims to provide those students interested in doing empirical studies in the field of health development in China with an knowledge of how to conduct field investigation in local communities. THE COURSE WILL BE CONDUCTED IN ENGLISH.
