Einführung in den zweistimmigen Kontrapunkt des 16. Jh., Einführung in
den Generalbass-Satz des 17. und 18. Jh., Grundlagen der harmonischen
Analyse (Stufen- und Funktionstheorie).

Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to counterpoint (2 part writing), functional harmony, theory of chordal scale degrees, basso continuo. Lecture, practice in the group and individual practice go hand in hand.

Grading of tests and homeworks.

Examination topics

Writing a cadence, setting of a basso continuo, analysis of harmonic progressions (short examples), fillling gaps in a 2 part counterpoint example

Reading list

Will be given later on when necessary.
