Aims, contents and method of the course

Written test at the end of the term.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The course aims to extend the students' knowledge of Hittite grammar, vocabulary and Hittite cuneiform and to develop further reading and translation skills. In addition, it aims to familiarize the students with the Hittite tradition and its historic and cultural background. The focus will be laid on the Neo-Hittite stage of the language.
Examination topics
Reading and linguistic analysis of selected Neo-Hittite texts, exercises on various grammatical features, vocabulary and cuneiform script, background information to Hittite history and culture, introduction to topics of Hittitological studies.

The goal of the course is to deepen the knowledge of Hittite grammar, vocabulary, and Hittite cuneiform. By reading selected Neo-Hittite texts the students will be familiarized with the most prominent stage of the language.
