Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

An introduction to the late stage of the Cornish language, lasting from ca 1600 to its death ca. 1800, as well as the revived variety of the 20th and 21st century. Specific traits of Late Cornish will be discussed (North Western European sprachbund phenomena etc.). Parts of the historical text corpus will be read and discussed.

Assessment and permitted materials

Prüfungsimmanent: Mitarbeit und Vorbereitung.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The course will give students a linguistic and historical overview of Late Cornish and its textual attestation. Relevant linguistic concepts and methods will be taught as well.

Examination topics

A mixture of lecture, discussion, language course, and reading of historical texts.
