Aims, contents and method of the course

Syllabus and topics:
historical roots of sociolinguistics, language and variation (bi- and multilingualism, diglossia), international sociolinguistics, linguistic minorities, code switching, influence of sociological parameters on language choice (class, gender, age).

Assessment and permitted materials
