Aims, contents and method of the course
The pronunciation of the Irish language is the main focus here. The different dialects of the Irish language will be discussed, in particular similarities and differences between them. Basic pronunciation along with the correct emphasis in the Irish lanugage will be taught. To this end, simple dialogues are used for practice. This course is suitable for all levels - those who have neglected the pronunciation Irish or those who are learning it for the first time.
Assessment and permitted materials
Continuous assessment and a short oral examination are required.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The goal of this course is for the student to be able to differentiate between Irish dialects and also that hteir oral skills when speaking Irish improve.
Examination topics
This course will be divided into 4 lengthy blocks of 5 full hours each spread over the semester so that there is a realistic chance that the students can immerse themselves for a short time in the Irish language and actually be able to distinguish the dialects. In the longer stretches between blocks, students can practise at home with the help of recordings.
