Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The class treats basic questions of Indo-European phonology; the main focus will be the reconstruction and development of the PIE consonants; other topics will be discussed on demand.

Assessment and permitted materials

Participation and active discussion in class; preparation of homework

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Aim of the class is to acquire a deeper understanding of the basic problems of PIE phonology.

Examination topics

After a short introduction into the problems to be treated, students are required to read additional literature and prepare a short presentation; discussions follow
