Aims, contents and method of the course
Main topics: a) diagnosis of central language and speech disorders (aphasia, speech apraxia, dysarthria), alexia, agraphia, and neurological disorders b) differential diagnosis between aphasic and non-aphasic central speech disorders (aphasia syndromes and cognitive dysphasias) c) linguistic communicative disorders d) syndrome-oriented vs. model-oriented diagnostics e) usage of tests and speech processing models f) differentiation and application of therapeutic possibilities derived from clinically tested, neurological patients
Assessment and permitted materials
Oral and written examination - Independent diagnosis of a sample case with written and oral neurolinguistic and neuropsychological interpretation on the basis of
the corresponding theories and processing models. Active participation during the weekly sessions is sine qua non for the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
acquisition of knowledge about central and non-central linguistic, speech, and communicative disorders, writing and reading disorders, neuropsychological disorders, comprehension and application of neuropsychological tests; to a large degree independent diagnosis of patients; development and application of therapeutic measures on the basis of the results from diagnosis.

a) short portrayal of the aphasic and non-aphasic central linguistic and speech disorders, of the alexias and agraphias as well as of the neurolinguistic and neuropsychological tests b) implementation of diagnostics (neurolinguistic and neuropsychological analysis and interpretation) for neurological patients c) derivation, differentiation and application of therapeutic
