Aims, contents and method of the course

In this class the central areas of linguistics will be presented. Emphasis is laid on the introduction of basic concepts, theses and models of phonology and morphology. In practical exercises students will discover important analytical methods of linguistics.
This class is obligatory in the first semester and a prerequisite for all further classes.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The final mark consists of 3 parts: homework, participation in discussion, and a written final exam.

Examination topics

Analysis of datasets that students should not be familiar with. Any written material may be used, but no electronic media.
