Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course offers an introduction to Celtic Studies with a focus on the Middle Ages. In addition to an overview of the histories of England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and Brittany, developments of the Celtic languages and literatures as well as problems in archaeology will be presented.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The goal of the course is the acquisition of knowledge in the realm of Celtic Studies, i.e. the archaeology, history, religion, languages and literature of the Celtic-speakings regions of Northwest Europe in the Middle Ages.

Examination topics

Besides the discussed themes, the focus of the course is to sharpen the understanding of problems and methods in current research.
