Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
We will read and discuss an Old Irish saga text. Agrammatical and literary analysis of the text will be central to the discussion, for which reason basic knowledge of Old Irish is a prerequisite.
Assessment and permitted materials
Assessment will be according to the translations performed in class (and prepared at home)
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
In the course of the semester, students will learn how to approach and translate Old Irish texts and will learn to apply the knowledge gained in Old Irish language courses, so that they can then independently read and understand basic texts.
Examination topics
Students will translate in class text passages previously prepared as homework.
Reading list
Literatur wird zu Beginn der Lehrveranstaltung zur Verfügung gestellt.
