Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The students will attain a basic knowledge of Modern Welsh phonology, grammar and idiomatic expressions. This will allow them to understand simple texts with the help of a dictionary. The course will mainly be taught in the form of lectures, but will also involve in-class assignments.

Two exams:

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
No previous knowledge of the Welsh language is required, although a linguistic interest will be advantageous.
Examination topics
The tests will cover material from the coursebook as well as from handouts that are discussed during the course. Although the course is essentially a lecture, active participation during the lectures is encouraged.
Reading list
The coursebook Complete Welsh or Teach Yourself Welsh by Julie Brake and Christine Jones. They are the same book, but with different titles. Any edition from 2000 onwards is fine.
