Aims, contents and method of the course

Cognitive foundations of reference and signification.
Socially and culturally determied semasiological variation.
Interaction of semiotic and pragmatic dimensions of linguistic cognition and communication.
Role of semantic change in general tendencies of cultural evolution and transformation.

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Acquisition of multimodal understanding of processes and patterns in language history by means of empirical semasiology and semantic theory.
