Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This seminar will deal with the representation of phonological structure (syllable structure, stress, etc.), of melody (non-structural "features") and of the relationship between these two in post-SPE phonological theories.

Assessment and permitted materials

a) Participation in class and
b) Presentation of a topic with handout and
c) written seminar paper

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Participants are to be familiarised in detail with current theories of phonology.

Examination topics

After an introduction by the teacher, topics for presentations by students will be discussed and assigned. Then presentations by the participants will be held, each followed by discussion.
