Aims, contents and method of the course

Lecture 1:
Information on the course, intensive Q & A. Journalistic principles. We provide about 30 daily papers and the students find a topic of actual interest to produce a virtual TV-documentary.
- where to shoot
- who to ask for information (recherche)
- which information do we gather and where
- how to illustrate our virtual film.
Lecture 2:
reportage, documentary. investigation vs feuilleton.
6 Ws as a must in journalism.
Recherche - archive - internet - nonfiction literature.
chech - recheck - double check.
Lecture 3:
Presentation of the TV film "Stefan Zweig - The Homeless European" and analysis.
Lecture 4:
a school of Vision, apercepiton of my images.
tools for generating an image.
Light - sound - editing - music.
Lecture 5:
How to make an interview, images in interviewing, background and ambience.
Lecture 6:
We present the most common TV cameras on the market and show how to handle them.
Lecture 7:
Interviews: Our students ask questions under realistic circumstances and with camera pros.
Lecutre 8:
we discuss the students´ interviews and the dos and don´ts during interviewing.

Assessment and permitted materials

check & test.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The Students will be able to value TV programs through professsional eyes.
They have the potential to create a short documentary themselves.

Examination topics

Active involvment in decisions to find topics, to make interviews, to handle professional equipment.

Rund 80 Fach-Bücher aus dem Besitz der Vortragenden, die auch (limitiert) ausgeliehen werden. Liste wird zu Semsterbeginn an die Studierenden verteilt.
