Aims, contents and method of the course

Darstellung und Analyse des klassischen Studiosystems Hollywoods inklusive seiner Vorgeschichte seit den Anfängen des Films bis zu den Ausläufern in den 1960er Jahren. Filmgeschichte als Produktions- Vorführungs- und Rezeptionsgeschichte. Einbindung wichtiger Theorien in Sachen Frühes Kino, Attraktons, Studiosystem, Starsystem etc.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Kenntnis und Verständnis der amerikanischen Filmgeschichte, Übersicht über die zum Verständnis derselbigen notwendigen Theorien. Kenntnis und Verständnis historischer Kontexte politischer, gesellschaftlicher, ökonomischer und kultureller Art.
