The great variety of subjects in musicals seems to be the result of individual creation. In fact they follow certain models of traditional dramaturgic principles of drama, opera, operetta, movies, television and new media. These models will be presented and the dramaturgical patterns will be analyzed in selected genres, the musical comedy, musical play, dramamusical, musical fable, musical revue, musical film, film adaptations of musicals, dance musical, horror musicals, jukebox musicals and musicals for children - in musical films regarding the specific aspects of the medium. In new musicals the intertextual references include special impact.
