Aims, contents and method of the course

Stanley Kubrick gilt als einer der bekanntesten und wichtigsten amerikanischen Filmregisseure, und das nicht nur unter Fachleuten sondern auch im populären Bereich. Insbesondere an den Filmen 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY (1968), A CLOCKWORK ORANGE (1971), THE SHINING (1980) und FULL METAL JACKET (1987) ist die Handschrift des Auteurs erkennbar.
In der Übung wird das Werk des Regisseurs analysiert und dabei sowohl das Konzept des Autorenfilmers als auch das von Genres diskutiert. Denn die meisten von Kubricks Filmen sind einerseits eindeutig Genrefilme, dabei aber auch gleichzeitig Kubrick-Filme.

Assessment and permitted materials

Hauptteilleistung:
Hausübung mit vorgegebener Fragestellung, die anhand eines selbstgewählten Filmbeispiels aus Kubricks Werk bearbeitet wird.
