The course will be taught in English. The course meets Tuesdays from 9am to 1pm. In the first weeks, all four hours will be dedicated to seminar discussions. From the second third onwards, one of the four hours will be set aside to individual supervisions. Participants should have some background in epistemology.

Aims, contents and method of the course
This course focuses on Wittgenstein's ON CERTAINTY and its most important recent interpretations, esp. the studies by Annalisa Coliva, James Conant, Duncan Pritchard, Daniele Moyal-Sharrock, Michael Williams, Crispin Wright.
Assessment and permitted materials
- every participant writes a two-page "review" of the literature for every meeting
- every participant gives two oral presentations in the seminar
- every participant writes a review of a recent BOOK-length interpretation of Wittgenstein
- every participant writes a twenty-page "journal paper"
- every participant actively takes part in a one-day workshop on "Wittgenstein and Epistemology"

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Participants will
- become familiar with the recent work on Wittgenstein
- learn how to discuss systematic and historical questions relating to Wittgenstein and epistemology
- learn how to write in the formats important in contemporary analytic philosophy (short book reviews, review essays, journal paper)
- learn how to give conference/workshop presentations and commentaries
