Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This lecture on Indian philosophy will focus on the first and second capter of Patañjali's Yoga-Sutra. This text is the first systematic record of the yoga-tradition in India. It describes the way of a mode of thinking that longs to free us from Ignoranz and Narrowness in order to allow us to come in contact with a brighter force at work in the cosmos.
Assessment and permitted materials
Presenting a protocol in an oral and written form (10 Minutes oral, 7 pages written) is a possiblity for about 13 students. The rest will be examined in a written form only
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The main aims of this lecture are:
Introduction into the basic thoughts of Indian Philosophies.
Revealing the picture of thinking at work in the Yoga-Sutra-Tradition according to Patañjali
Differentiation between a yogic mode of thinking in relation to western concepts of thinking.

Written examination. (The three examination dates will be announced during the semester and will be hold between July and November 2012)
