Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In the MEi:CogSci lecture series researchers from the core disciplines of cognitive science at the University of Vienna and Medical University of Vienna (and other institutions) introduce their research questions, topics, approaches and methods in short evening talks. Students should focus on interdisciplinarity and cognitive science aspects of their respective research.

Learning Outcomes:
- Familiarity with individual researchers' questions and approaches
- Insight into the field and scientific culture of the core disciplines of cognitive science
- Insight how a particular way to pose a scientific question is related to the methodology chosen

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment: Written exam. Time: 90 minutes.
Answer four questions focusing on the topic of interdisciplinarity. It is a requirement that you refer to at least three different talks out of all the talks from the lecture series. Answer each question by making a concise argument and use interdisciplinarity terminology precisely. (Max. 500 words per question.)
Provided literature (on paper only) and personal notes (on paper only) can be used. The literature will be available via the Moodle e-learning platform. (Literature will be updated continuously.) The use of electronic devices (e.g., computers, smartphones, WWW, etc.) during the exam is not permitted.

First examination date: 30 January 2017, 18:30, HS 34, Main University Building
Second and third examination dates: T.B.A.
