Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this course consists in generating an image of thought in which philosophy is considered to become a mode of artistic practice.
In the course of the lecture we will analyze a number of philosophical positions on the relation of art and philosophy generated in the context of the history of European philosophies from Plato till today. Thereby we will focus our philosophical investigations on the historical process Nietzsche and Deleuze called “reversal of Platonism”.
Therefore, questions will haunt us in the course of the semester like: “What actually comes into being in the historical event of an inversion of Platonism, in which Plato’s image of thought is transferred into a post-platonic image of thinking?” “How does the answer to the question ‘What is Philosophy’ change by virtue of the epochal process of such an inversion?” “What is called thinking in post-platonic terms?” “How does the way of doing philosophy change, once we have overcome the platonic image of thinking in order to advance a new mode of thinking, in which the construction of sensible milieus becomes a constitutive trait of philosophizing?”
