Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Sigmund Freud's assumptions pertaining sex and gender still matter, although in the center of his discovery there were not sex and gender, but the unconscious and infantile sexuality. Psychoanalytic suppositions on sex and gender have been accepted, critized, repudiated and completed in other scientific domains. That is the way they managed to shape other theories of the becoming, the meaning and the condition of gender and why they are important in gender studies up to now. In the course early psychoanalytic positions on sex and gender will be described and discussed.
