Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course introduces students to foundational questions meta ethics, with a particular focus on the intersection of meta ethics and moral psychology: Are there moral reasons that do not depend on our desires? What is moral motivation? Are our moral judgments driven by reason or by emotion? What can we learn from psychology about the nature of morality?
The format will be a mixture of lecture, discussion, and in class activities. There will be reading assignments for most sessions and students will be expected to have read the readings carefully in advance. Readings will be made available on Moodle.

Assessment and permitted materials

There will be an in person exam on 28.01.2025. The format will be multiple-choice.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The exam will be graded as follows (percentages are based on full marks):
80-100% - 1
70-79% - 2
60-69% - 3
50-59% - 4
49-0% - 5

Examination topics

The exam will cover both material covered in lectures and in the assigned readings.
