Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The aim of the course is to discuss the main problems and methods of comparative philosophy. How do interpretation, criticism, and evaluation work across traditions? Can one understand a form of life that one does not participate in? Critical comparison of Aristotelian, Confucian, and Buddhist philosophies, especially ethics.
Assessment and permitted materials
Regular attendance, participation in seminar discussions, oral presentations with handout, written version of presentations, term paper.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Examination topics
Discussion of texts and student presentations.
