Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Introduction to linguistics with special emphasis on questions of interest to cognitive science.Linguistics within the cognitive sciences, theoretical models within linguistics, exercises on phonetics/phonology/morphology/syntax/semantics, psycho- and neurolinguistics, embodiment of grammar
Assessment and permitted materials
There will be six homework assignments, each consisting of an online task (written answer to short questions on the material to be studied), a short verbal presentation in the live session (approx. 5 mins answering assigned questions) and participation in the live discussion.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Grading scheme:You can receive the maximum of 24 Points.
24, 23, 22 --> "sehr gut" (1)
21, 20, 19 --> "gut" (2)
18, 17, 16 --> "befriedigend" (3)
15, 14, 13 --> "genügend" (4)
12 points or less --> "nicht genügend" (5), i.e. you failed the course.You can receive the points in the following way:
4 points per homework (1 point written online task, 1 point class presentation, 2 points participation in the discussion).Update: 13.12.2021
Class participation is mandatory. If you happen to miss a session (e.g. for health reasons, other exam at the same time etc) you may submit your homework question in written form (1/2 - 1 page) until 31. January 2022.
