We will read Hegel’s Phenomenology against the background of recent work done on this work by John McDowell, Robert Brandom and Robert Pippin. These interpretations will privilege a semantic reading of Hegel which will also include consideration of Leipzig Hegel scholarship like that of Steckeler-Weithofer and Sebastian Rödl.
