Continuous assessment of course work

Joseph H. Carens' "The Ethics of Immigration" is a thorough and systematic philosophical inquiry into one of the key political issues of our times. Starting with an examination of current immigration controversies in Europe and the United states, he argues that in light of the values of liberal democracies, many common practices in democratic states need to be revised. Freedom and equality, Carens argues, entail open borders.
In this course, we will read and discuss Carens' seminal book.
