Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
As the VO will be conducted digitally under Covid conditions, the performance assessment will be carried out by means of a written online examination (Open-Book format).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
1) The minimum requirement is a basic knowledge of the contents taught, which is tested in the form of comprehension questions and should be documented in essay form.
A positive assessment of the examination is achieved if the questions are answered in the sign of a comprehensible understanding of the basic ideas of the lecture.
(2) The central assessment standard is oriented towards a
comprehension of the topics, basic ideas and questions developed in the lecture. The examination performance is assessed as "very good" if the knowledge of the examination material clearly exceeds the average level of knowledge and independent, argumentatively justified insights or further criticism are introduced.Minimum requirement: At least 40 points are needed for a positive assessment.

2: 70-84 points
3: 55-69 points

On the one hand, these perspectives and answers come from the fund of Christian traditions, on the other hand from secular and Enlightenment world views, as well as perspectives and answers from various religious and spiritual traditions. It is thus a matter of a wide variety of culturally conditioned sign systems that serve as interpretive systems for leading one's life (Wendel 2010) or from which eclectic interpretations are drawn.
Orientation in this plurality of systems of meaning is necessary for the individual on the one hand, but also for the respective society on the other, and is rudimentarily unavoidable here in view of a minimal consensus.
The course attempts to develop criteria for a possible orientation.
Orientation is first of all a personal achievement (Stegmaier 1992) and provides provisional knowledge under the condition of determining one's own location. Orientation knowledge is associated with evaluations that allow one to choose different options for action.
Interpretation of religions and world views follow cultural patterns and provide a wide variety of models of evaluation that differ not only concerning the respective systems as well as among internally themselves. However, especially in an intercultural context, similarities can also be found that undermine the usual demarcations and sometimes coincide in socio-political statements. (An example: at the UN World Conferences on Women, representatives of Islam and the Roman Catholic Church unanimously voted against women's rights). Whether similar positions follow from similar strong evaluations (Taylor 2006) is to be investigated.

Method: Because of COVID-19, the contents of the VO will be presented online. In order to enable better interaction, discussion forums will be set up in addition to a conversation part in the VO units, via which discussion contributions and questions can be contributed.
