In the first block the focus of this research seminar lies on a close-reading of key-texts, which debate discursive & bodily practices of doing philosophy (cf. https://www.performancephilosophy.org/).
How could a philosophical text and thesis be demonstrated in unusual forms? (Lecture-Performance) Does your MA-thesis demand a certain kind of aesthetics? The co-operating art-students and the philosophy-students will collectively reflect on new aesthetical forms to bodily present a thought-process.
In the second block the focus of our research will be experimental and practice-based. Now we will investigate in practice different ways of how one could bodily demonstrate texts and stage arguments in a performative manner? Which aesthetic forms are adequate to bodily explore one's thoughts in concrete sensible situations and material contexts? Which bodily and technological means should one use – sounds, visuals, pictures, off-voice, talks? Which atmosphere do we want to create through the use of such means? The development of these forms of presentation will take place in a close co-operation with 8 artists, who participate in this cross-disciplinary research seminar.
In the third block we will develop a kind of cross-disciplinary field-performance, in which the entire research group will collectively stage the outcome of each single contribution in a collective performance staged in the performance-center KHORA.
Susanne Valerie Granzer (actress) and Arno Böhler (philosopher) will guide you through this research-process.
The entire seminar will take place on three weekends on the countryside in Lower Austria (3662 Münichreith, Kehrbach 2). You can easily reach the place within one hour by train (Vienna-Melk), where Granzer / Böhler will pick up all participants.
The costs for accommodation and food is sponsored by the faculty of philosophy and educational science and SPL 18.
