Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In her teaching, the instructor draws inspiration from various authors, among which Malcolm Knowles, Carl Rogers, Gert Biesta and Dee Fink. In this seminar, we explore the ideas of these authors. In which respects are their ideas similar or different? Is it possible to synthesize them? Each student writes an individual essay about one selected aspect of curriculum and instruction that is discussed by one or more of these authors. The essays will be discussed during the last meeting.

Assessment and permitted materials

Presence and active participation during the seminar meetings.
During the module, each student will have to provide the following products to our Moodle course and Google docs website:
- Contributions in preparation of the group discussion during the meetings, such as summaries of the ideas of one specific author related to one specific aspect of curriculum and discussion.
- An essay on one selected aspect of curriculum and instruction that is discussed by one or more of the authors.
All materials are permitted, provided that they are referenced, and their use is justified.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Presence at all seminar meetings; absence during one meeting is allowed.
All contributions should be handed in on time; overdue submission is not allowed.
All contributions should reflect sufficient and serious effort. The essay should show that the student understands how the selected aspect is discussed by the selected author(s).
