Please note that all written work will be done in English.
Reading requirements will be provided in German and/or English.Being able to conduct research is one of the ultimate goals of an academic education. Knowing theoretical paradigms and your stance within them is at the base of how your reseach will be conducted and understood.
This seminar will discuss different major theoretical paradigms from the different scientific disciplines (such as philosophy, psychology, sociology...) which have influenced education and research. Each session will look at and compare how these theories have been relevant for the discipline of education.
This in turn will help your understanding of education as a discipline and the theoretical differences within it.
The main discussions will concern how different prominent theorists in the disciplines conceived of the generation of reality and knowledge.English is a very important language to the international academic world. This seminar will be providing a great opportunity for students to practice reading, writing, and discussing in languages they will need as they continue further in academia.
