Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the seminar is the preparation of an master theses exposé (or a section of the Master's thesis) as well as the preparation for the oral examination. In terms of content, the focus is on your research. Furthermore, the basics of media pedagogy are covered. Methodologically, texts are prepared, collegial feedback on texts is formulated, examination literature is compiled and mock examinations are conducted.

Assessment and permitted materials

In the seminar you will develop
- your own research project,
- prepare an exposé,
- give collegial comments on exposés.
- select examination literature,
- prepare an oral examination, and
- conduct a mock examination.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Minimum requirement:
- Attendance is compulsory.
- Reading of an introduction to media education
- Writing of an exposé
- Review of the exposé by a colleague
- Revision of the expose
- Selection of examination literature
- Conducting a mock examination

Assessment:
- Anwering tasks for the introduction to media pedagogy: 20 points
- Writing of the exposé: 20 points
- Review of an exposé: 20 points
- Selection of examination literature: 10 points
- Performance of a mock examination: 30 points
50 points are required for a positive assessment of the course.
1 (very good) 80-100 points
2 (good) 70-79 points
3 (satisfactory) 60-69 points
4 (sufficient) 50-59 points
5 (insufficient) 0-49 points

To ensure good academic practice, students may be invited to a grade-relevant interview after handing in the seminar paper, which must be completed positively. In case of plagiarism of a partial performance, the entire seminar counts as plagiarised.

Examination topics

The examination material consists of content relevant to the self-selected topics as well as the provided texts.
