Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The own person represents a central instance in pedagogical action. The knowledge of one's own biographical development plays an important role and is an important aspect of pedagogical reflexivity in addition to a critical reference to society. This reflexivity can be supported by different methods of biographical self-reflection in order to reveal the connection between one's own history and pedagogical action.
Under the motto 'In my footsteps', the concept of 'biographical self-reflection' (Gudjons 2020) will be introduced theoretically and carried out practically within the framework of a methods workshop.
The goal is to promote a self-reflective and professional competence of action through the examination of one's own biography and to create an understanding attitude towards one's own becoming and the becoming of others.
In addition to the aspect of promoting action competence in the sense of pedagogical professionalism, the seminar concept also focuses on the content-related examination of aspects of professionalization in pedagogical contexts and the challenges of pedagogical antinomies in interactions.
In the context of biographical self-reflection, ways of acting and strategies, role understandings as well as pedagogical attitudes that have been shaped by one's own biography are to be uncovered.
In addition to reading and discussing the basic texts, students will have the opportunity to deal with their own patterns of action (subjective theories) and reflect on them in a methods workshop. For this purpose, different methods of biographical self-reflection will be tried out in the large group of the seminar and in groups of a maximum of five persons, and these will subsequently be reflected upon and discussed with regard to possibilities of implementation in pedagogical practice.

Perspectives/transfer: The seminar offers an optimal opportunity for theory-practice transfer for the educational science training of students and pedagogically active persons. The examination of one's own biography and the acquaintance with methods contribute to an increase in the ability to reflect and also enable the application of biographical methods in one's own practice. In this context, the change to a new learning culture under consideration of one's own biographical parts is an important aspect that is taken into account in this process of knowledge and has a lasting effect on one's own pedagogical practice and professionalization.
