Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The concept of habitus is one of the important concepts in media education and literacy. This concept is inspired by the sociology of Bourdieu, his ideas of habitus. As the concept of media habitus has consequences for the definition of media literacy and media education, this seminar will work out on the concept of habitus, media habitus, digital habitus and how there could be a link between media habitus and media literacy and education. Considering the importance of media habitus in media education and literacy, the seminar also develops knowledge about different perspectives on media literacy and education.
The seminar will be organized in reading texts regarding habitus, media habitus, digital habitus and media literacy theories. The participants will prepare a review of the texts and their positions on them. They need to present, discuss, and defend their position individually or in groups.
