Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture gives an overview over various methodological approaches of psychological research with a focues on experimental and quasi-experimental designs. Addititionally it covers validity issues, sampling theory (simple random sampling, stratified sampling, cluster sampling), sample size determination, missing values, mixed methods and other selected issues such as the PISA methodology. Special care is taken regarding the practical implementation with the corresponding software.

Assessment and permitted materials

Final exam, bonus points for e-learning participation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Familiarity with the most important aspects of experimental planning and implementation, and the consequences for the interpretation of results. Getting to know the procedures and the software which are important for practical work.
