Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Recent advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have created new use cases of AI both as a research topic and as a tool to assist and even improve research and learning practices. This course will deal with selected topics of research on human-AI interaction. For instance, what predicts whether human decision makers appreciate or reject the support of algorithmic/AI agents? How "fair" are AI decision tools? What are the ethical implications of using AI? The course will include both the presentation and discussion of recent scientific papers on the topic as well as practical sessions on using and applying AI in research-/study-related tasks.

Assessment and permitted materials

Students will be graded in their (1) presentation of a scientific article and a (2) written assignment on a practical issue related to the topic.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Both parts of the evaluation will be weighted with 50% for the final grade. It is required that students attend the classed in person.

Examination topics

The students should be interested in the topic of AI and its modern use cases. They should be willing to read and discuss scientific articles on the topic in class.

Reading list

The literature is entirely based on scientific articles from psychology, marketing, information research, and related areas. The readings will be announced in the first session of the course and provided via Moodle.
