Aims, contents and method of the course

AIMS: The course is intended to provide the sufficient knowledge to do scientific work. In particular the following goals will be achieved along the course:
1) be able to prepare a revision of the literature
2) be able to formulate a research question
3) be able to answer the research question with scientific methods
4) be able to formulate hypotheses, and describe the expected results

CONTENT: The main topics covered by the course relate to: social cognitive neuroscience, empathy, emotions, disorders of social cognition such as autism and alexithymia.

METHOD: Frontal lectures, practical tutorials plus students´ presentations.

Assessment and permitted materials

Expose of the research project plus presentations during the course

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Students have to actively participate by constructing and presenting during the seminar a research project (state of the art, research questions, hypotheses, methods).
Students must attend the lectures and the practical tutorials (4h per week)

Examination topics

1) how to prepare a revision of the literature
2) how to formulate a research question
3) how to answer the research question with scientific methods
4) how to formulate hypotheses, and describe the expected results
