Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
General Information: This course provides information about the biological aspects of behavior, cognition and emotion. In particular the following topics will be covered: memory, language, emotions, motivational behaviors, sleep and affective disorders.
Assessment and permitted materials
Course assessment: First written examination at the end of the semester. Three further appointments in the following winter semester (10/11). All examinations will be in English.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Goals: To give a general framework on the biological aspects underlying human behavior and cognition and to facilitate a critical reading of the most recent research literature.
Examination topics
Methods: Each lecture will be supported by use of power point slides that will be made available to the students.
Reading list
Reading: "Biopsychology" by John.P.J.Pinel (Pearson), 7th Edition or "Biopsychologie" by John.P.J.Pinel (Pearson-Verlag), 6th Edition.
Content: From chapter 11 to chapter 18 of the textbook "Biopsychology" by Pinel (Pearson publishing house). Additional research articles will be provided and discussed during the course.
