Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course aims to train students to proficiently perform all the steps necessary to conduct empirical research in the field of psychology of aging. This is a 2-semester course program. During the summer term of 2025, students will collect data on the effects of climate change on different age groups, analyze the data, and interpret the results and document their findings.

Four groups of 4-5 students will be created, with each group covering one age group (adolescence, young adulthood, middle adulthood, older adulthood).

Each group will give one oral presentation to present their research questions and a second oral presentation to present their findings in the form of a poster (results), and they will summarize their findings of the systematic map review in a written report (3.000-3.200 words).

Assessment and permitted materials

Grading system: Grading will be based on the research question presentation counting 10% (5% individual, 5% group grading), the results poster presentation counting 30% (15% individual, 15% group grading), the written report counting 30% (15% individual, 15% group grading), and active participation in class and for the project counting 30% (individual grading).

All students' tasks (presentations, active participation and writing) can be performed both in German or English.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Attendance (on site) is compulsory; students may be absent for no more than two lectures. A positive grade on all assignments (research question presentation, results presentation, project report) is necessary for a positive overall grade. A satisfactory level of English language skills are required.
