Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

What characterizes Austrian politics? Which developments are essential for the current understanding? How is Austrian politics integrated into the political system of the EU?

The lecture aims to provide introductory knowledge about the Austrian political system and its integration into the EU.
It provides an overview of the institutions, structures, actors and processes of the two political systems, the EU and Austria. The political systems are treated partly on their own, partly linked via the analytical concepts of Europeanization and multi-levelism. The lecture also attempts to address current developments and changes (from consensus to conflict democracy) and to discuss political challenges and tensions in the process of European integration and renationalization.

Guest speakers will also contribute to the lecture, especially in order to gain insights into "realpolitik" as well.
There will be room for discussion of current challenges.

Until further notice, the lecture will take place as a hybrid format.
