- Attendance and class participation (15 % of the final mark)
- Submit three questions for the required readings ten times during the seminar (25 % of the final mark)
- Written online test (30 % of the final mark)
- Research paper (30 % of the final mark): around 3500 wordsEach component will be graded separately. The overall grade will be the weighted average of the grades from the four components, whereby it is not necessary that each of the components is successful. In other words, students are allowed to fail any of the four components and can still pass the class as long as the overall grade is at least 4.0.Plagiarism and Ghostwriting are strictly forbidden. To make sure that these rules are not violated all written work will be crosschecked with a Plagiarism-software (Turnitin). In addition, on some occasions, students will be required to provide an oral discussion of their written work.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Please note that this course is held in English. Students must be able and willing to read and understand academic literature in English and also be able to follow and take part in a discussion in English. Students also have to submit their coursework in English.Attendance is required in the first class and, overall, not more than two classes can be missed (‘prüfungsimmanente Lehrveranstaltung’).

The lecture by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wolfgang C. Müller is a point of reference for this course. Accordingly, we will cover the following topics:

It is essential for this course that students read and understand the texts before the class starts in order to be able to have a proper discussion about them.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, this course will be taught online. All classes, though, will be synchronous, meaning that there will be no pre-recorded lectures. To take part in this course properly, you will have to be able to go online during class times. In order to be able to participate, you need a working microphone and camera.
