Aims, contents and method of the course

This is an introductory reading course in comparative politics. It provides students with an overview of basic concepts in comparative politics and the main approaches to analyzing political processes, institutions and policies. 

Assessment and permitted materials

Mitarbeit und Anwesenheit: 10 Prozent der Gesamtnote. 
Impulsreferat in Kleingruppen: 30 Prozent der Gesamtnote. 
Response Papers: 30 Prozent der Gesamtnote. 
Test: 30 Prozent der Gesamtnote.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Insgesamt 51/100 Punkte für Mitarbeit, Referat, Response Paper und Test und ein positiver Abschluss jeder Teilleistung.

Examination topics

Zentrale Aspekte der Pflichtliteratur.

Reading list

Caramani 2014 and additional literature, especially articles from peer-reviewed journals.

Language of instruction is German, most of the literature is in English.
