This seminar will focus on the influence of the European Union (EU) in the world, its role as a global player and international power in the making. The global actorness of the EU will be analysed through insights from multiple disciplines into what the EU does, how it does it, why it does it, and where it succeeds or fails in a vast range of areas. It will look, especially at EU's contributions to regional and global governance by looking at e.g. on the EU's role as a multinational and regional democratic political system, its external policies including trade, humanitarian aid, migration, enlargement and neighbourhood policy as well as EU's relationship with international organisations such UN, NATO, etc.
