Die Lehrformate für das WS (digital, hybrid, vor Ort) befinden sich in Entwicklung. Die Lehrenden werden die geplante Organisationsform und Lehrmethodik auf ufind und Moodle bekannt geben. Aufgrund von Covid19 muss mit kurzfristigen Änderungen in Richtung digitaler Lehre gerechnet werden.

Nicht-prüfungsimmanente (n-pi) Lehrveranstaltung. Eine Anmeldung über u:space ist erforderlich. Mit der Anmeldung werden Sie automatisch für die entsprechende Moodle-Plattform freigeschaltet. Vorlesungen unterliegen keinen Zugangsbeschränkungen.

VO-Prüfungstermine erfordern eine gesonderte Anmeldung.
Mit der Teilnahme an der Lehrveranstaltung verpflichten Sie sich zur Einhaltung der Standards guter wissenschaftlicher Praxis. Schummelversuche und erschlichene Prüfungsleistungen führen zur Nichtbewertung der Lehrveranstaltung (Eintragung eines 'X' im Sammelzeugnis).

Aims, contents and method of the course

DUE TO RECENT COVID ALERTS THE WHOLE LECTURE WILL BE IN A SYCHRONOUS DIGITAL MODE! (WEEKLY SYNCHRONOUS MODE via BBB possibly by arrangement individual presence meetings for group work)
Based on gender in politics, violence protection policies, definitions of gender-based violence and sexism, as well as jointly developed theoretical considerations from approaches of feminist political science and gender and anti-whale violence research, the thematic field of gender-based and sexualised violence will be discussed on the basis of recent media discourses as well as reforms and evaluations of violence protection measures.

- Anti-violence policy and media governance
- Istanbul Convention and evaluations: Combating violence against women
- Protection against violence, women's shelters and advice centres
- Representation of gender-based, sexualised violence in the information media
- Gender constructions, narratives and myths in context with gender-based / sexualised violence

GOAL: Basic understanding and knowledge of relevant violence protection policies and definitions of gender-based violence or sexualised violence against women, as well as the corresponding theoretical and empirical knowledge and transdisciplinary approaches, apply the knowledge and delve into a research topic, its presentation and a thesis.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation, submission of exercises, presentation, participation in group work, writing a final paper

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Regular, active participation, reading, oral and written part performances, attendance (max. 2 times missing); positive final course work
Assessment: Oral and written part performances (45 %); written course work (55%)

Examination topics

Basic understanding of gender in politics, gender-based and sexualised violence, knowledge of violence protection policies and legislation, empirical findings on the extent of gender-based violence
