Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Political socialization serves to understand the origins of political preferences as well as political and social change within societies. In the seminar we consider the possible "inheritance" or transmission of values, ideologies and specific political attitudes. We focus on the socialization within the family, as the family context is a primary socialization instance for the formation of political values. The parental home not only plays a role in the deliberate discussion of social and political questions by parents or guardians, but can also have an indirect impact. The resulting selective access to certain information and contacts with the "outside world" gives value to others more than others. In this regard, also the influence of political communication channels will be of importance. The seminar deals with new channels of political information dissemination (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and their influence on political socialization.
