Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The EU's asylum and migration policy is shaped by a plurality of institutions and actors, policy-modes as well as instruments. This class provides a theoretically informed assessment of all these interactions at EU level, its policy outcome and the subsequent implementation in the member states. Particular attention is paid to the formal and informal instruments and processes which are used by relevant policy-makers to achieve their objectives.

Assessment and permitted materials

4 text reviews (20 points); midterm exam (20p); Submission and discussion of 2 paper proposals (20p); a final seminar paper (40p)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

All course assignments have to be submitted. Regular attendance.

64-50 Points: Sufficient (4)
74-65 Points: Satisfactory (3)
89-75 Points: Good (2)
